Final Verdict

To conclude this report about my poster, I'll add it one more time so we can have a final look at it together:

Amazing, isn't it? After spending the whole semester analyzing this poster, I'm surprised that I'm not sick of it by now. When I picked it out, I had no idea what was coming and how closely I would have to examine all the details. In the end, I'm glad I chose this poster because it has some really interesting aspects. My favorite chapter is still the socio-cultural background of it. It was interesting to take a closer look at where this design and style originated from. Also the observation part was actually fun and I noticed that I tend to still search for people looking at posters whenever I go outside.

The question remains: is it a good poster? Well, I think I can answer that now. The poster may not be very effective in grabbing attention at first glance, but is this really necessary? It's a poster for a small theater, and there's not a huge audience to be expected. It is balanced and readable and doesn't overwhelm the viewer. Yeah, the semiosis sucks, so what? The viewer can still be curious about what it is and read more about it – on the side of style it targets the right audience, also in terms of the emotions it evokes. The best proof is that I found it, and I would have gone to the event if I had been in Berlin at the time.

So for me the poster is good.
